Low Vision Treatment

Low Vision Rehabilitation is the evaluation and treatment of individuals with low vision to help them overcome the handicapping effects of their visual impairment. Based on individual lifestyle needs, solutions will be sought to help each patient achieve their visual goals. This may include the recommendation of optical and non-optical devices known as "Low Vision Aids".

Low vision aids are special lens systems designed to magnify or illuminate images to improve visual acuity. Low Vision Aids may take the form of magnifiers, telescopes, high-powered spectacles and electronic devices. Non-optical devices include large print reading material, writing and signature guides and much more. Remember, any device that you find helpful is worth using. For more information on this subject, please visit the Eschenbach Optik website.

Your initial Low Vision Rehabilitation evaluation will take approximately one hour. Low vision rehabilitation is a continuous process, so you will probably have several follow-up visits until all of your visual goals have been satisfied. Low Vision Rehabilitation will not restore your lost sight. It is a process whereby we will assist you in maximizing your remaining functional vision.

If you are covered by Medicare your evaluation may be covered, at least in part. One or more optical devices may be recommended during the process. These devices are not covered by Medicare or most other private insurance plans.
